What we will do
  • Share the Portfolio Presentations
  • Think about how to incorporate 21st Century Skills into your Unit Plan
  • Explore ways to efficiently locate and evaluate Internetr Web sites
  • Investigate Copyright laws and legal uses of Web sites
  • Plan how to integrate the use of the Internet into your Unit Plan

Pair and Share

  • Select a partner with whom you will work with all Pair and Share activities.
  • Share your presentations and provide feedback on the assessment to gauge student needs.
  • Also provide feedback on any areas where adjustments might be made.
  • Be sure to provide feedback on those areas that were specifed by the presenter in the presentation.
  • Refer to p. 3.02 for suggestions on how to review and provide feedback on presentations.

Pedagogical Practices

  • In your group, one person will serve as the recorder for the group.
  • Each group will be assigned one of the questions on page 3.03.
  • You will create a subpage from the Module 3 page on this wiki following the directions on p. 3.03.
    • Create a subpage
    • Title for the page
    • Question you are discussing
    • 2-column, 8-row table with "Concerns" in the left column and "Solutions" in the right column.
    • The recorder will enter the group's concerns and possible solutions in the table.
    • Be sure to save the wiki page when you are finished.

Targeting 21st Century Skills
  • Think about ways to include particular 21st Century Skills in your unit.
    • Research
    • Communication
    • Collaboration
    • Problem solving
  • A list of 21st Century Skills may be found in the CD/Thinking folder.
  • Think about the questions on p. 3.04 as you review your objectives.
  • Small Group Discussion: Brainstorm how you could incorporate the Internet into your classroom to further enhance student learning in regards to research, communication, and collaboration.

  • Independent Exploration: Review the resources listed in Step 2 on p. 3.06.

Using the Internet for Research

  • Independent Review
    • Complete steps 1-3 on pp. 3.07-3.09.
    • Locate resources you may be able to use in your Unit Plan
    • Review the resources for evaluating Web sites in the CD/Evaluating the Web folder

Considering Web-based Collaborative Learning

  • Independent Review:
    • Complete Activity 5, p. 3.14-3.17.
    • Complete #4 on p. 3.17.
    • Be sure to contribute to both worksheets by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the worksheet. There is a tab for communication tools and a tab for collaboration tools.
